Technological and Productive Enhancement of MD PLAST S.p.A.
MD Plast S.p.A. has carried out an important project thanks to funding from the Impresa 4.0 program, supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), enhancing technology, productivity, and workplace safety.
Project Funding and Context
Decree and Regulatory Reference
MD PLAST S.p.A., by decree dated 02.02.2022, was funded for the technological and digital transformation of the company through the use of enabling technologies under the Impresa 4.0 plan (Annex 1 to DM 30 October 2019 – Axis VI, Investment Priority 13i, Action 3.1.1., Project Code B41B21007370004).
European Context
The project was financed as part of the European Union’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Technological Investments and Productivity Increase
Thanks to this investment, MD Plast was able to expand and diversify production capacity through the acquisition of new machinery for the manufacturing of primary forms of plastic.
The adoption of these technologies enabled a significant increase in productivity and a faster pace for existing industrial processes.
Efficiency, Safety, and Production Continuity
The project contributed to improving product performance, increasing efficiency and flexibility in company operations.
It also delivered tangible benefits in terms of workplace health and safety.
Doubling Production and Ensuring Continuity
The new production line allowed doubling the production of black masterbatch, halving processing times and ensuring continuity even in the event of a line stoppage, reducing costs and overtime hours.
Greater Market Competitiveness
Company competitiveness improved by at least 50% thanks to increased production capacity and more efficient processes.
MD Plast can now approach the market with shorter production times and a doubled productivity rate, strengthening its position in the sector.
Digitalization and Smart Factory
The project fostered the growth of the company’s digital maturity.
Already oriented towards the concept of a “smart factory”, MD Plast recorded a 50% increase in process digitalization thanks to new management and logistics systems and the acquisition of advanced technological and IT skills.
